1 day Studio Lighting Workshop; Still Life

My still life workshops differ from most other photography meetups.

You will not find the subject and the lighting already set up for you to then just snap away. Here you produce great pictures all by yourself – with my expert guidance of course. Nor will you be in a large group fighting for your 5 minute slot. There is a maximum of 4 photographers and as the workshop lasts for 6 hours, plenty of time for me to teach and demonstrate and for you to practice.

I will show you how to light and experiment with colour, composition and texture. Create mood with hard and diffuse lights, mix tungsten and flash, and many other lighting techniques. I will also demonstrate how you can use domestic lamps for ‘studio’ lighting at home.
There will be two still life set ups in the studio for you to work on and everything will be arranged and lit by you.

This workshop is ideal for those with no studio experience or those who have previously shot in a studio but who now want to actually learn how to light for themselves. Arranging and photographing inanimate objects is the ideal way to learn how to compose and light in the studio without the pressures or restraints of dealing with a model. Though what you learn here can later be applied to all manner of subjects.

This is an intensive workshop for just 4 photographers on Sunday March 3rd from 10.30 – 4.30. The cost is £79 each which includes lunch !
Workshops take place at my Shoreditch studio by Old Street station. You will need an SLR or similar camera with a standard hot shoe and a tripod if you have one (I have a spare if needed). Bring a notebook too !

A great Meetup. If still life or product photography is some thing you are interested in, this workshop is really helpful. Excellent tuition, plenty of practice using various lighting techniques, and some great professional tricks of the trade. The small group means you get some invaluable one to one advice on what ever it is you are interested in photographing.

I learned a great deal. I now have the confidence to try out my flash and reflectors. Of course I'm now on the internet looking for tungsten lights and soft boxes to buy!

    Hi Martin,
I'm coming along tomorrow. Your email said you provided lunch. Unfortunately I am allergic to gluten so can't eat the usual sandwiches. Shall I bring my own lunch?

Probably best to bring your own. I will also be having fruit and dips etc which you are welcome to have. See you tomorrow.

Normally weekends & weekdays are best, but unable to attend that particular date, sadly.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
