My still life workshops differ from most other photography meetups.
You will not find the subject and the lighting already set up for you to then just snap away. Here you produce great pictures all by yourself – with my expert guidance of course. Nor will you be in a large group fighting for your 5 minute slot. There is a maximum of 4 photographers and as the workshop lasts for 6 hours, plenty of time for me to teach and demonstrate and for you to practice.
I will show you how to light and experiment with colour, composition and texture. Create mood with hard and diffuse lights, mix tungsten and flash, and many other lighting techniques. I will also demonstrate how you can use domestic lamps for ‘studio’ lighting at home.
There will be two still life set ups in the studio for you to work on and everything will be arranged and lit by you.
This workshop is ideal for those with no studio experience or those who have previously shot in a studio but who now want to actually learn how to light for themselves. Arranging and photographing inanimate objects is the ideal way to learn how to compose and light in the studio without the pressures or restraints of dealing with a model. Though what you learn here can later be applied to all manner of subjects.
This is an intensive workshop for just 4 photographers on Sunday March 3rd from 10.30 – 4.30. The cost is £79 each which includes lunch !
Workshops take place at my Shoreditch studio by Old Street station. You will need an SLR or similar camera with a standard hot shoe and a tripod if you have one (I have a spare if needed). Bring a notebook too !
