Oregon Ridge Yellow Trail Hike (Alternating Weeks)

Every other Saturday, we will be adding the Yellow Trail to our normal hike. Though not adding any significant difficulty, it is double the time and double the distance. Essentially it is up and down the Ridge twice instead of our normal once. plan for this and allow from 9AM to Noon, just to be safe.

The Yellow Trail does cross the stream several times. I, for one, do not plan on getting my feet wet but, oh well, sometimes stuff happens. You might choose your footwear accordingly.

Starting promptly at 9am at Oregon Ridge Park (Nature Center). The Nature Center entrance is on Beaver Dam Rd., only about 50 feet south of Shawan Rd., just behind the Oregon Grille restaurant parking lot. It's called Kurtz Lane on many maps. Follow this road for roughly 1/2 mile to get to the parking lot.

We meet in the parking lot between the lake and the Nature Center. Look for the "carved" wooden bench. You can't miss us.

We will walk approximately four miles, at a comfortable pace for beginners. Though the walking time, including the Yellow Trail, should be roughly two hours, set aside from 9 to Noon just in case

Go here for an excellent map of the park with the Nature Center entrance clearly marked.

Some may want to stay for a while later and take advantage of the free exhibits at the Nature Center. Others may want to stay for a swim at the lake, in season (one of Baltimore County's best kept secrets), which does carry a daily charge.

I will not post cancellations because of the weather. I assume we're all capable of making that decision as each of us sees fit.

If you decide to respond "Yes" to this event and later change your mind for whatever reason, please, please go in and change your RSVP to a "No". That way, we know not to be waiting for you. Thanks.

Sorry I missed you all, I couldn't get myself moving this morning. Was it a good hike? not too wet?

We noticed your absence and hoped all was well. Good hike; not too slippery, but the stream was full. Crossings were fun...

    Hi Paul,

If very soggy I may skip because of slippery conditions. If I join, I will be there before 9. I hope everyone has a blast.

It will be a little soggy out there tomorrow morning. Please choose your footware wisely. See you then!
