Ferns of Maryland - with Dwight Johnson

  • June 6, 2013 · 7:00 PM
  • Maryland Naturalist Center

Ferns grow along trails and streams. They fill patches of light at the edge of a forest or peek out of a crack in a rock.  Over 70 species grow in Maryland, but you probably have not seen more than 25. Dwight Johnson will show you how to look at a fern and will help you figure out the names of the ones you are likely to see.  His talk will get you ready for the fern field trip on Sunday, June 9th.

Dwight Johnson is the go-to person for ferns in Maryland.  Visit his 'Key to the Ferns of Maryland' at the Maryland Native Plant Society website: http://www.mdflora.org/PlantInfo/fernkey.html .

This talk is jointly sponsored by the Natural History Society of Maryland and the Maryland Native Plant Society.

Cost: free for members of the Natural History Society of Maryland or the Maryland Native Plant Society;  non-members $5

My 'yes' is a 'maybe' .. not sure I can make it in time to what will certainly be a great event, but do hope so.
