Make Stink Bug Traps and Bring Them to Critterpalooza 2011

If you haven't run into an invasive brown marmorated stink bug yet, you've been living in a bubble! These annoying stinkers are everywhere, and will soon be returning to your home for a nice, cozy winter come Fall this year. Some of you may have seen the news clip of the guy who made a stink bug trap..... well we want to make a bunch to sell at our Critterpalooza 2011 Event! If you would like to help us with this project, please make traps (without the LED lights) AT HOME and bring them to our Critterpalooza Event by 9am on the 15th of October.  I've included a youtube video of how to make them, if interested. There is a need to use scapels/razorblades to cut the bottles, so please consider the safety of your children with this activity. Hope to see you at Critterpalooza, traps for sale in hand! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwUuHhWYvDA

Sounds good Jim. I'll be getting some lights that we'll leave in the packaging. If buyers just want the trap it'll be $2, trap w/light it'll be $8. I'll return any unused lights after Critterpalooza. It would be good to also have a small sheet that lists other baiting items that can be used.

There was talk about baiting them instead of using a light. I think we could take advantage of pumpkin carving scraps as bait. It might be smart to make a small instruction sheet with the options to give with the traps to save time at the table. I think we will have 5 traps and we have a puck light if it is needed fro the demo.

I have a couple dozen bottles which I've already cut and taped up so they're ready to go. I'll be bringing them with me on Wed. to the mtg. I'm bringing one with a light to show at the sale table as a sample with the info on where bottle buyers can go to buy a light (Home Depot $5.97) if we just sell bottles.

hmmm, not getting a great turn out for this again. I'm privy on the idea of just making mine at home and bringing them the day of? What do you guys think? I'll wait until our meeting on the 28th of Sept. to talk about it with the group... let's pass ideas around here.

Kristine, I'm not sure if we can make the event but we probably have 5 bottles put aside for the traps. We'll either drop them off at NHSM before the meetup, or maybe make them at home ourselves (unless you think you're going to alter the design from the video--haven't watched it yet)
