Dr. Dave Thorndill will be talking about what birds you might find at your birdfeeder during the winter. He will also have mounted specimens so you can see them up close and personal. Bring your photos for identification and your questions for answers.

Dr. Thorndill is a retired professor of biology at CCBC - Essex who has been an active birder for many years.

I'm not a bird person, but left the talk eager to observe birds on a more regular basis. Great mix of personal stories, practical suggestions on how to ID birds, and some scientific data. I liked that we had opportunity to thumb through a field guide and try to guess the mounted species before the talk.

I learned a lot from Dr. Thorndill and the other attendees today. For instance, a good tip for quickly and correctly identifying species using field guides is to look to the map or the region it inhabits first instead trying to identify by looking at the pictures first. I was touched by some of the heart-warming stories about people's interactions with birds that were shared. This was an excellent and educational event!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
