In association with Make Music NY, New York's largest FREE outdoor music festival, Guitar World's Acoustic Nation and NYC Guitar School are hosting Mass Appeal: Guitars - a free, live, EPIC ensemble of guitarists open to players of all ages, styles, and skill-levels. On June 21st we will swarm Union Square and play selected numbers that will bring the house down! This year our sponsors include Martin Guitar and TECH 21. Festivities kick off at 4:00pm in Union Square with practice sessions and special on-site only giveaway by our sponsor, Martin Guitar. Enter for your chance to win your very own Martin D - 28 Guitar plus other super cool giveaways! You must be present to win!

The first featured performance begins at 4:45pm with Alex Skolnick and his world music act, Planetary Coalition, including some special surprise guests! Perhaps best known for his role in the celebrated metal band Testament, this project shows another side of this masterful player. Planetary Coalition is an ethnically flavored collective of diverse musicians that is funded through ArtistShare and features musicians and
musical influences from all over the world. More at

The play-along jam at 5:30pm will be lead by Laura Whitmore (Editor of Acoustic Nation/Founder of Women's International Music Network), Jay moran of VH1, NYC artist DORIT, Shane Chapman Online director of NYC Guitar school and frontman of Anacortes, Big Al and the Metro Avalanche, NYC Guitar School Directors and MORE! Bring your guitar and play and sing along! We are sending an invitation to the world at large to come and play guitar with us. Tell your sister, tell your brother, tell your cousin, tell your granny!

The final featured performance will get underway at 6:00pm featuring Wise Girl. Wise Girl’s sound combines indie and pop with a touch of folk for a sound that draws influences from classic ’60s pop groups like The Drifters and The Supremes, both favorites of frontwoman Abby Weitz. The band is about to release their forthcoming sophomore EP Sing Me To Sleep on July 1.

Again, EVERYBODY's invited no matter age, creed, style or skill-level. PDFs of the song charts, video tutorials, and free practice session sign ups will all be available on the Mass Appeal meet up page soon! So stay tuned! Find out more at

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
