This will be a shorter than usual trip. We will start Saturday morning and spend the night, heading back home Sunday afternoon.
Since this will be a short trip I think we should concentrate on shelter building and fire. We will all make an individual shelter for the night and a personal fire, we will probably also have a common fire in the communal area. I would love to hear from folks with any other idea or things that you would like to cover. i am open to pretty much anthing we have time for. Wool and polypropylene are crucial. Cotton is marginal at best and in really wet weather is actually dangerous (we'll talk about this on the trip, but take my word for it for now). , As long as we're on the topic, plan to wear lots of layers (on your body, on your hands, and on your feet). That way we can adjust our temperature to fit our current level of activity. Big parkas are only useful if you're walking from your car to your house and plan to be warm on both ends; when outdoors, they're just bulk In general, equipment can be found for cheap, you don't have to spend significant $$$. However, the basic equipment list is just that- a basic list. You must have all of the things on that list. If you want to bring more than that, that is totally up to you- there will be no kit or food restriction on this trip.
