From infancy through our senior years, touch plays an important role in our emotional and physical development. Today, however, we often view touch as a sexual in nature. This is misleading because sexuality is only one way to experience touch. We have all had our hands held, been hugged, kissed, massaged and coddled. Touch calms and soothes us. It reminds us that we are not alone. It is healthy for our soul and an integral component of our human experience.
Massage for the People is a project that brings the art touch and therapy of massage to a larger audience through classes and workshops that are affordable, educational and rejuvenating. Individuals will learn basic massage techniques in the context of a friendly group of peers. Classes and workshops will be in an inclusive, supportive setting in which you will develop the capacity to listen, respond, give and receive. Our various events focus on different topics including Prenatal Massage, Swedish, Reflexology, Back, Head and other techniques. Typical class size is twenty individuals, and most classes require you attend with a partner.
