We have decided to shut down this meetup group
massmouth has a website (massmouth.com). you can become a member there if you would like to be up-to-date about coming events.
massmouth works to renew the timeless art of storytelling in Massachusetts by building audience while engaging a new generation of tellers using digital capture of story in live performance in non traditional venues (from apple orchards to urban street corners, and at story slams). massmouth engages in dialogue with our audience and our colleagues in real time and through web 2.0 in order to extend and perfect our art.
THE GROUP STARTED: when we realized that our professional group, once MA based (www.lanes.org ) had became regional, MA had no state wide organization. massmouth was created to fill the void. We promote and create story in live performance because story is everywhere and needs a presence. We video tape and post our performances. We are storytellers willing to tell stories in the world. We are out of the clubs, the hot houses, the supportive audiences and into the streets.
WHO: Anyone willing to practice the art and craft of story in live performance.
WHY: massmouth was started to promote the art of storytelling in Massachusetts. We exist to bring the art of storytelling into the wider world, in the street, online and, by doing so, into the ears and imaginations of people everywhere. and open mic called a "mouthoff" every month and other happenings and events as planned.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
