Howard County AGAST (Advocacy Group Against Slavery & Trafficking) will be holding an open meeting on Tuesday, June 5 at 7pm at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center to further develop our initiatives for making a difference in the fight against Human Trafficking of Sex and Labor victims in Howard County and the State of Maryland. Our goals are to better educate the public, protect our young, work with law enforcement and help develop and lobby for better laws to protect victims and punish the criminals.
We want and need your help.
We have leaders selected. Attendees will plan in groupings for various interest groups. Where do you see yourself helping, based on your particular time and energy?

..Contacting HoCo orgs to set up educ programs-Public Schools, Faith communities, Business&Medical Professionals, Non-profits, etc..

..Posting Nat'l Human Trafficking Hot Line at private company bus/truck stops. ( A law was passed this year on this)
We have learned that Awareness is one of the most important ingredients for knowing what to look for if victims living here or being passed though our area are to be rescued. We have also learned that Awareness is needed to better fund and develop support services, which are currently in short supply, if victims are to be healed and restored.
