The Path of the Heart, with Pir Zia Inayat-Khan

This is a chance to spend a weekend in meditation and contemplation with a most inspiring Sufi teacher. Pir Zia Inayat-Khan is the grandson and spiritual heir of Hazrat Inayat Khan, who brought Sufism to the West from India in 1910. Pir Zia is the spiritual leader of the Sufi Order International.

The weekend will explore Sufi teachings, meditations, and practices: What would it mean to think, speak, and act from the heart and soul? How would such an orientation affect our way of life, our relationships, our perceptions and emotions-and our identity itself? Beneath the surface of the mind are deeper faculties of feeling and knowing. To awaken this subtle physiology and spiritual perception is to behold the world with fresh vision and renewed purpose.

Weekend tuition $195 through Oct. 19, $225 thereafter. Students and young adults under 30: $40 through Oct. 19, then $50. Limited scholarships available. Includes Friday evening talk, Saturday's Kirtan and full program Saturday 9:30 to 5:30 and Sunday 9:30 to 4.

To register, please send checks (include an email address for details) payable to Sufi Order to: Gail Jamila Wellock, 1427 Filene Ct., Vienna, VA 22182. For further information and to arrange a place to stay: [masked] or call [masked]-3456.

Friday Evening Talk: “The Sufi Path of Love” (Friday, Nov. 1, 7:30-9 pm). Pir Zia will illuminate this path with an evening of invocation, reflection, and remembrance evoking the perfume of the Sufi tradition, the devotional philosophy of Love, Harmony, and Beauty. $10.

Saturday Evening: Universal Kirtan (Saturday, Nov. 2, 7:30 pm). Joyous, participatory singing inspired by many spiritual traditions. Led by multiple WAMMIE-nominated musician Mahbood Len Seligman. No experience necessary. $10.

There's a little bit more detail at www.barakacenter.org. Click on The Path of the Heart, just below the Pir Zia video. There will be meditation, contemplation, and exquisite spiritual discourse. Hope to see you there. It is sure to be an extraordinary event.
