TIS THE SEASON (FOR US, ANYWAY)
Well, the wheel of the year has turned yet again and we are
full steam ahead for the silly season. Traditionally, in the
muggle world, the last three months of the calendar are filled
to the teeth with one party or another and outgoing activities.
Traditionally, in a pagan world, the end of the year is about
introspection and the darker aspects of our faith. This is
after all, the time for harvesting of crops and storing away
that which will nurture us during the winter. The question
remains, “How do I celebrate my beliefs with my child but not
miss out on the fun of the traditional world?” I say you don’t.
Miss out on the fun, that is. Never let it be said that we don’
t celebrate our religion.
Looking into the flames I recalled a time sitting by the
camp fire whilst my dad would add an extra log making the
flames seem to lick the sky. To this day fires have drawn me
with a spiritual yearning that makes me complete. Having
recently learnt to make a cauldron fire, using a candle and
some sticks, having helped make them on several occasions, I
decided it was time to make one of my own and perform a little
magic at the same time.
OUT OF THE BROOMCLOSET
I want to share something rather private with you. So far,
only my husband, son, and two very close friends know this, but
I thought I might share it with you, too.
I am a witch. Well, a witchlet growing into a witch. At any
rate, I am wandering down that enticing path and trying to
enjoy the journey, although it seems to be a long one in my
No green face, no bedhead except first thing in the morning,
and striped stockings make my legs look fat(ter) than I like.
On the other hand, when I bought my 9 inch cauldron not too
long ago, with a whistful look my muggle husband inquired what
would be cooking in it, having visions, no doubt, of Brunswick
stew and chili.
MEETUP'S FOR THE MONTH OCTOBER
Well a new year fast approaches and elections loom, not that
they will have much effect for whomever gains power for us as
pagan's, but it is a good time to look back and forward to see
the past, both as individuals and as a people, to shape our
futures in spirit and mind in order to achieve the goals of our
In our first meeting of October the new 'Downtown Pagan Meetup"
had a quiet but enjoyable get together, only five attended our
new home at Ethos on North Orange Avenue close to the 50 but it
gave us a chance to see the advantages of this welcoming
I thought it was appropriate to tell you a little about
love herbs this article since I will be getting married this
month :) And since that is ALL that is on my mind! Sorry if the
mushy talk sickens you, maybe you want to turn your head for a
few moments, but I just don't see it going away anytime soon!
For all who can handle it :) Hope you all enjoy!
Whenever a group of people gather for ritual, what ever the
event that Precipitates it, the basic circle effects what
happens. Always its an Issue for me who will come or not. The
intent and purpose of the circle is decided before it ever gets
formed. Whether open or closed circle basics are the same.
