You are welcome to join us for our Buddhist meditation and fellowship! We have been particularly inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh's tradition, but we are open to other traditions as well. We meet in a beautiful Laotian temple filled with serene, life-size Buddhas! People begin quietly gathering a little before
7 pm. We begin with an approximately 20 minute sitting meditation followed by a walking meditation. We may then recite the 5 mindfulness trainings, sing a song, or do deep relaxation. We conclude with open sharing and compassionate listening about our mindfulness practice. Once a month we also do a beautiful Touching the Earth ceremony. We welcome newcomers and we can provide guidance on ways to focus during sitting and walking mediation or ways of general practice. The sangha is very attentive and supportive and offers an opportunity to be refreshed and nourished.
For more info., please contact: Craig Smith, (858)[masked] or [address removed]
Take Hwy 163 to Genesee WEST. You will cross Linda Vista S1.. Continue on Genesee.
Make a LEFT at the next signal which is Osler. Go 2-3 blocks to make a LEFT at Comstock. In two or three more blocks you will pass Nye St. Go slow. Turn RIGHT on the next street (Manning) --the sign is obscured by trees until you actually start turning onto the street. You will also see a "One-way" street sign. On Manning, make a quick left in about 15 feet into alley. You will see the Wat Lao Navaram monastery on your right as you go down the alley. As the alley begins to curve to the left at the end, you will see a cement parking lot. Park in the lot if there is still space (or continue on to park on the street if not). Go up steps to the temple entrance which faces the alley ... take off shoes ...you're there!
