The Buddhism Course 101 is now being reoffered to all those interested in surveying the Buddha's life and teachings, and how they are applied to 21st century American life. Since 2004, this course has been the New England Institute of Buddhist Studies’ most popular and comprehensive course. It is open to beginners to intermediate levels.
We only offer 101 twice a year, in January and in May, and it runs for 6 months, meeting once a month only (6 times). This course covers numerous great books that survey the vastness of the Buddhist tradition both Theravada and Mahayana. This course is designed to explore Buddhism from the life of its founder to the very heart of modern Shin Buddhist spirituality. Not only does it seeks to give the student a historical and intellectual overview of Buddhism but emphasizes daily practice, which is, living the Buddha's teachings as a practical vehicle for spiritual awakening.
