Buddhism 101 Course Winter - Learn About Meditation and More

Learn about the Buddhist path from the ground up. Who was the Buddha and his disciples, and the Eightfold Path? What is meditation? How do can you meditate?  What are the Buddha teachings for lay people and what is the Shin path?

The Buddhism Course 101 is now being reoffered to all those interested in surveying the Buddha's life and teachings, and how they are applied to 21st century American life. Since 2004, this course has been the New England Institute of Buddhist Studies’ most popular and comprehensive course.  It is open to beginners to intermediate levels.

We only offer 101 twice a year, in January and in May, and it runs for 6 months, meeting once a month only (6 times).  This course covers numerous great books that survey the vastness of the Buddhist tradition both Theravada and Mahayana. This course is designed to explore Buddhism from the life of its founder to the very heart of modern Shin Buddhist spirituality. Not only does it seeks to give the student a historical and intellectual overview of Buddhism but emphasizes daily practice, which is, living the Buddha's teachings as a practical vehicle for spiritual awakening.

This comprehensive 101 course is known for its insightful class discussions and plenty of opportunities to learn and practice the necessary spiritual tools to help you awaken to the Oneness of Reality and discover your life’s purpose.  The vast majority of the students who previously have taken this course have commented that this course has been the key vehicle in their personal and spiritual transformation. Most would say that 101 is not just a course but a unique experience that helps you realize your inner potential of faith, compassion and understanding.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
