In our first 4 weeks, we have been building our practice on breath awareness in calm abiding meditation. Just simply coming back to breath to hold our attention mindfully. Now, we will continue with this practice with the introduction of compassion meditation in combination with analytical meditation ( also called insight or Vipassana).
When we allow ourselves to encounter our inner dialogue, chatter, aversions, critiques, distraction and discontent we will learn to meet this all with wide open compassion. When we can give compassion to ourselves with true presence and understanding, we are cultivating a practice that will tender our hearts and soften our minds. We will also meet these with a great good sense of humor, too!
Then, and only then, can we truly extend compassion from an embodied and known place that recognizes the need every living thing has for compassion and to "lighten up".
