Testing the waters for a game day/night...

  • Needs a date

  • Needs a location

  • Per my post in the "discussion" forum, just putting something here to gauge the interest level of this group in a future game day/night...if you are interested, RSVP here with what would be a good day/time for you and maybe we can pull something together!

Hey all... new to this meetup, but would certainly be interested in attending a game night. I might also try to make it to one of the Cohoots things Jeff suggested, although I have meetings late Thursday afternoons which might prevent that. Thanks!

Wow, it's so great to see some action here!

For those of you interested, there's a very well-established Game Night running on Thursday nights at the Co+Hoots workspace in Central PHX. They post their events on Facebook - here's a link to this week's game night: https://www.facebook.com/events/...

We usually have between 12-15 people show up (though last week we had almost 20!) and go from about 6:00 to 11:00 PM. We play a wide variety of games, though we lean much more towards Euro/Modern games versus Monopoly. As an example, last week Village, Netrunner, Saboteur, Formula D, Guillotine and Ginkgopolis were all played. Other games that regularly appear on the tables include Lords of Waterdeep, Dominion, Terra Mystica, Smash Up, King of Tokyo, Elder Sign, Race for the Galaxy, etc.

If you're interested, please feel free to "like" Co+Hoots on Facebook and sign-up for the event! If I get the OK from the organizer I'll try and post something here on Meetup as well.

I just wanted to say that we have a group that meets ever Friday at Sleepy Dog Brewery(University and McClintock) & a group of us are looking to rotate our venue ever other week to a more central location. We would love to have more gamers join us. :-)

We play anything really from euro strategy to lighter games like Cards against Humanity.

I will plan to show up at Sleep Dog this Friday. I will not be able to get there until maybe 6:30PM.

Friday nights, any time on Saturday, Sunday afternoon/evening. I live around Bell/SR51 so finding game meetups in central-east Phoenix would be nice. With other activities, I am guessing I could meet about once a month.

Hey Rebecca, fancy seeing you in this group :) Hopefully we can play Pandemic really soon again and actually kick some viral butt!

Weekends (especially Friday nights) are much better for me than weekdays.

Mondays are a little tough for me to meetup on but any other day of the week is fine. I am def up for IHOP or any other central location. Board games I have and haven't played yet are:
D&D Clue that I found at Comicon, Battlestar Galactica strategy game and Hogwarts board game that I forget the name of (also a strategy game). I can bring these to the first meetup just to see if people are interested in them.

OK, this is great! We've actually got enough folks to have signed up for this that it's actually showing as an upcoming Meetup!

With that said - I'd love to get something on the calendar in the near future. I saw the recommendation of an IHOP below and it seems as good of an idea as any (unless someone has a hidden gem they haven't told us about yet :))

In the meantime, I do know of two game nights that are regularly attended by fine folks:

Game CoLab: 6:00 PM on Tuesdays at Thomas & Central - they have a meetup page where you can sign up for game night (as well as the other awesome events they have)

Co+Hoots Game Night: 6:00 PM on Thursdays at Washington & 11th Street (just not this Thursday, since it's Halloween!)

Hello there, I'll definitely meet up for a central game location in Phx. I live and work downtown, so it fits perfect for me. I have boardgames that I haven't even played yet!

There's an IHOP at 2508 North Central Avenue that is really friendly to evening gamers. It's on the light rail too, so it's really easy for me to get to.

Hi Melissa - we haven't really gotten a great deal of traction on anything here through Meetup, but there is a game night every Thursday evening at Co+Hoots on Washington & 11th Street at 6:00 PM. It's a great game night with a bunch of really fun people who are always willing to teach games - I'd strongly encourage you to stop by!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
