RMP ARIA Final featuring Mozart's Requiem

Royal Melbourne Philharmonic, est. in 1853, are Australia's oldest (Not for Profit) Choir & Orchestra hosting their 8th RMP ARIA Singing Competition Finals, where participants can sing their own Oratorio and also join RMP in a full scale performance of Mozart's Requiem as a Finale.

Admission includes a bound score, afternoon tea and coffee, a three- and four-hour choral workshop, entry to the RMP Aria Final, a free champagne reception following the concert and, best of all, a chance to actually perform alongside members of the RMP Choir and Orchestra.

    Hi Anna, Peter and Liv,
I hope you all have received registration confirmations for the workshop. I am only going to the evening session and look forward to hearing you sing in the choir performance.
As you will be sitting in your respective voice parts for the workshop, I would suggest you all just turn up and there will be workshop organisers who will make you welcome and direct you to your respective seating arrangements, rather than meet up as a group.
Afterwards there is the supper and by then you will have met lots of new acquaintances to get to know better.
Does this sound OK to you?

Haven't heard back yet, so I tried emailing again.

I'm still waiting for confirmation that my application went through before RSVPing. I guess they send it through mail.

Oh no, I didn't check the conversations, relying solely on the meetup app so didn't see the below until now. I had intended to attend the workshop. I purchased a ticket directly from the meetup link via my mobile, which, upon checking the website, was for the evening only. Can I still join the workshop?

    August 4, 2014

    • Lisa

Hi Liv, yes you can. Go to www.rmp.org.au and download the registration form, fax or email as per instructions. You have till 5th August, but better do today. That way you are registered, if the form states ways to pay, follow instructions on it, otherwise follow instructions on website. Lisa

Hi all, I just checked and it seems there are still just the last few tickets left at this link - http://www.trybooking.com/88122 . There is a chance that by the time you see this comment, the allocation may be exhausted. Please try to get in quick, hopefully you will be able to pinch the last few tickets left. All the best and hope to see you all there. Please do ask for Rubal (that's me) - I would love to meet you all. Thanks again for your support.

I sent in my form last evening instead of booking. Did it go through?

Hi Liv and Victor, which part of the event will you be going to? I am going to the evening only. Peter and Anna are doing the workshop.

Hi All, Tickets to the evening part of the event (i.e. only viewing the competition and performance and supper) have sold out. Registrations for the sing your own workshop close on 5th August (this includes the afternoon workshop, viewing the competition, performing and supper).

Lisa - I booked via the RMP website ( the link on our Meetup page) and simply clicked on the link labelled "Bookings essential. Online bookings:". This opens a window for TryBookings. I booked for"Full Adult Gen Adm - AUD 45.00". The only other option is a concession. The RMP website doesn't say anything about options but says making a booking lets you sing in the choir. I've sent emails to two RMP mailboxes: "tickets@..." and "rmp@..."

Hi Rubal from RMP, can you please clarify the issues below.
    Many thanks

Yes - I'm confused too. I want to sing in the Choir. I booked a month ago on-line - there was (and still is) only one option ($45) and it suggests it's being in the choir. I will send them an email, too.

    July 28, 2014

    • Lisa

Hi Peter, apologies for the confusion. If you wish to sing in the choir, it is $60 adults or $40 students. Have you paid the $45 as yet? Did you complete a registration form to sing in the choir? Once I find out the answers to the two above, will ask the RMP marketing manager to assist you. Also which booking site is only $45?

      July 28, 2014

  • Anna

Hi Lisa. I just went to book and got confused. I've just sent RMP an email. Wasn't sure if $45 was the evening concert, SYO, or both.

    July 28, 2014

    • Lisa

Hi Anna, It is $45 for the evening (viewing the competition, the festival choir performance and the supper. It is $60 for attending the workshop, watching the competition, performing the Requiem, and supper. Which one are you thinking of attending?

      July 28, 2014

    • Anna

The workshop and competition. That's what got me confused. On booking.com it didn't give any options. But I emailed them and someone sent me a form.

Hi All, This is well worth attending, there are two options:
Attending the actual workshop where you rehearse the Mozart Requiem with RMP and other choristers under the baton of Andrew Wailes, and then perform it in the evening. Also, while you are waiting to perform in the evening, you are watching the actual Aria competition-a chance to see future stars of the oratorio and opera circuit at the beginning of their career.
The other option is to only only view the Aria competition and then watch the performance of the Mozart Requiem by the RMP and workshop performers.
