An announcement from Occupy Outer Space:
A Dollar For NASA
Use a bank card or Paypal.
Right now, NASA - the agency that runs the space program - gets just half a penny for each dollar of Federal tax money. This is according to rocket scientist Neil DeGrasse Tyson. While there is a campaign to get more funding, we can't just leave this to the government. Lulz. We have to take action ourselves. At the end of this campaign, each of you will get a picture of the electronic payment to NASA (with identifying information bleeped out of course) proving that it has, indeed, been sent there.
Here is the donation site for NASA, just in case you would like to do this on your own rather than gaining fame, fortune and popularity through this silly website. All the money collected here will be sent to this NASA link:
But if you donate on our site, you get to see your name and your friends' names as official supporters! Yay! Also, you get to share this page with all your friends and family.
Details for self-donation found here:
The gist of it is, select 'Headquarters / NSSC' for your donation and type 'Donation' for bill ID number and debt type.
Just A Dollar
Many people consume 99 cent iced tea drinks on a daily basis - I know I did when I was in college. If every American skipped one of those refreshing drinks once a week and donated the money to NASA for a year, we would be able to raise 15 billion dollars for NASA. NASA currently receives around 18 billion dollars. That would almost double its budget for research, space exploration and space travel.
NASA running out of money
NASA has been severely underfunded. This has been all over the news. Projects are being canceled and put on hold. The James Webb telescope, a successor to Hubble, has been delayed so the neat space pictures that Hubble has been able to take are all that we have for now.
What are we waiting for? Let's pitch in and give a dollar to NASA today. Occupy Outer Space!
