Melbourne's own Chris Russell's Chicken Walk are launching their second album 'Shakedown' today, this being hot-on-the-heels of an east-coast tour supporting Clairy Browne & the Bangin' Rackettes.
Chris Russell's Chicken Walk take all the musical goodness from the American Deep South, and combine it with an Australian twang, to deliver a delta-blues inspired Chrississippi-styled foot-stompin' good time. Chris is most-ably supported with the zydeco-sounds of Gator Queen and the country-soul-rock of Saint Jude (a personal fav). So, be ready to foot-tap your way through the entire afternoon from the get go. All the details you need are the Northcote Social Club website.
o Catch a few CRCW clips from premier blues blog 'Real Down Blues',
o Listen in on some CRCW tunes from the official website,
o Boogie to CRCW recorded live at Golden Plains, and
o Dance with CRCW's 'Skinny Girl' recorded live at Cherry Bar.
o Listen to Saint Jude's latest album online streaming online.
o Listen to some Gator Queen tracks from reverbnation.
I reckon this'll be a great way to blow off any lingering cobwebs gathered the-night-before-the-morning-after. And as CRCW have developed a good-sized following in the Melbourne scene for engaging live shows, i'd STRONGLY ADVISE PRE-PURCHASING TICKETS. Word has it this gig is likely to become sold out midweek.
Meet around 1:45pm inside the bandroom. Early on, i'll endeavour to get our group inside the 'triangle' of the merch-desk, seat-bench, and stage-left. So look for the merchandise first up if you haven't met me previosuly. My number is[masked] if you're lost - although I am recognisable by my profile pic. Also - based on a prior meetups - we've seemed to kick on and chat over drinks post-gig for a while, so look for us again somewhere near the merchandise stand afterwards if you like.
