OPERA IN THE PARK

http://www.stonnington.vic.gov.au/events/?day=2013-02-02

This is an annual free event. The usual $2 cover charge to cover the costs of MSc applies so please give your $2 to Vit on arrival. This is a very popular annual event so you are required to get there by 6.30pm in order to get a good spot on the grass. Vit cannot single handedly occupy the space required for a large group so please be considerate and arrive by 6.30pm.

    Hi Edward

Sorry you couldn't find the group. Following my directions (which I was only able to post by mid-afternoon), we managed to get 12 people together in our group - so quite a good turnout. Yes, it can be difficult to find the group at this kind of event. Your suggestion would work if everyone arrived in a timely manner (ie one hour prior to the show, as requested), but practical considerations usually prevent this. The idea was for me to get there early & find a relatively good spot & hold it for the group. I hope you enjoyed the show, & that you'll join us for another event in due course. Vit.

Thanks Vit for your reply. It was a nice evening and good quality entertainment. I noticed that the gardens still had plenty of room being only 70% full. I watched the performance from the side by sitting on the short stone wall running around the edge of the arena. It was very nice to see both the crowd, the stage and the atmospheric ambiance. The only negative was a very bright light from the direction of and behind the stage from one of the lighting towers. How the stage engineer could think that was a good idea is beyond me lol

Hello, I was there but couldn't find anyone. Maybe next time we should gather just inside the entrance under the roofed area next to the Stonnington welcome / info tent at a specified time.
Just curious how many actually turned up? Regards
    Edward

This was a good event, & I think we all enjoyed the show & the conversation, though it got too cold for a few people. Thank you all for a lovely evening.

Hi folks. I'll be waiting for you from 6.30 pm onwards. I'll be wearing a dark blue jumper with white horizontal stripes, & a light brown hat. I will have a printed B&W MEETUP sign. Exact location? Given our group will arrive in dribs & drabs, I think the best we can manage is a relatively good spot near the centre of the expected crowd. I'll do my best to get us a spot relatively close to the stage, but this will depend on how early most people arrive. I look forward to meeting the many (to me) new people on the list, as well as catching up with familiar faces.

I would normally say yes to Opera in the Park as a singer myself but I am in the city until 6.30 pm ironically enough rehearsing for Opera in the Market in late February. Also not quite sure how to say "maybe" so if I do make a late dash I'm quite happy to say hello during the break.

Hi Maria. No reason to feel nervous. We're a relaxed & welcoming group. Our events (such as this one) usually have both familiar & unfamiliar faces, & it's always a pleasure to meet new people. I hope you can be one of them. Sorry, as I'm catching public transport there (no 6 Glen Iris tram), I'm unable to tell you where to park. Vit.

This is my first meetup. I am looking forward to meet all of you, but am a bit nervous. Could anyone tell me where I could park my car?
