I have repaired stripped drain plugs in bike crank cases or transmissions with Time-Sert. It is a hardened steel threaded sleeve that is inserted into the stripped case that restores the original thread size and is much better than a Heli-coil. It is what race engine builders use. The kit is about $50 and I can help you install it. Most shops are not familiar with it unless they build full-race drag or circle-track engines and are in the biz. I used it on my Harley trans plug.
