  Hey Caroline,
  You and the pup make a double 'cute' shot! Hykyng and walking are two sides of the same coin. But hykyng is definitely harder and more challenging. You'll not likely get your LL Beans dirty on a walk, but on a hyke I like my Cabela's covered in sweet Pa, Nj or De mud! I haven't really found many get up and go hykes here. But the Outdoor Club of Sj www.ocsj.org delivers some inthe Wissy or N. Jersey...Happy Trails to you and the pup.
