“ Hi Arutsuro-san =) Thanks for the shout. I will definitely try to go to Japan Day. Depends on my work schedule. It can get pretty crazy! Looking forward to meeting you and oyasuminasai =) ”
“ Well, the tanuki, or racoon dog, is a real animal, but the japanese have given it mythical attributes.
Similar to the mythical attributes they've given to foxes, and other beasts. ”
“ Arutsuro-san.
In one of your pics from Sakura Matsuri you asked, "kore nani?", about a strange animal statue on the stage.
That is a tanuki, also called a racoon dog.
It is supposed to be a mischievous shape-shifting animal in japanese folklore.
Many people in japan own statues of the tanuki for luck. Hope that helps. :) ”
