  •  Hey Gail,

It was great to see you too. My ediblewild plants book notes sassafras roots were on the first cargo ship ever to go from Mass. to Europe. My medicinal plants field guide says the plant's a folk remedy for stomach aches among other ailments & the leaves are used in soup stocks. The FDA banned sassafras because its oil is carcinogenic though a can of old fashioned root beer is less carcinogenic than a can of beer. http://www.wildmanstevebrill.com/Plan...

  •  Hello Fellow Health Minded Individuals,

I too believe in greener and healthier living and recently opened a vegetarian restaurant within a stone throw away from NYC. Check it out sometime. **www.surestaurant.com**

  •  Hi Gail,
You're welcome and thanks for the space. It was nice to see/meet everyone. If our conversation was intense then I guess I was making some sense at that hour.... I am looking forward to many more Green Singles Meetups. Always a nice group of people!

  •  Thanks for hosting Gail. I had fun. Soup for all. My vegan version of Thai Pumpkin & Coconut Soup includes: 1 lb of sweet raw pumpkin or winter squash (supposed to be kabocha but that soup included the Long Island Cheese Pumpkin) cut into 1 inch cubes. Thinly slice 6 shallots and 2 chilles or hallepeno peppers. Tablespoon of neutral tasting oil. Two cans of coconut milk and two cans of water. Sliced stalk of lemon grass. Juice of one lime. Salt to taste.
