Interpreters in Memphis have a new opportunity to attend a local presentation of the Orientation Workshop required to become a Certified Tennessee State Court Interpreter. The course will be held on the weekend of January 31 and February 1, 2009, at the Macon Campus of Southwest Community College. Participants will learn about court interpreting skills and ethics from Federally and State Certified Court Interpreter Judith Kenigson Kristy, who has been presenting the course throughout Tennessee for over 5 years in addition to having been a translator for 36 years and a federally certified interpreter since 1991. The cost for this 2-day workshop is $200 which includes an extensive take-home workbook/manual containing critical information needed to start the process of becoming certified in Tennessee. Interested interpreters of all languages may contact Ms. Kenigson Kristy for more information at [address removed] or (615)[masked] or (615) 948-5444.
