Sathya Nekkanti will discuss SQL server 2008 data structures, specifically covering Data Compression, Sparse columns and Filestream. Sathya will discuss how the Data compression works in SQL server 2008 and how to understand the data structure of the compressed data. He will talk about when to use sparse columns, how the data structure looks internally with sparse columns, some of the traditional alternative ways of storing heterogeneous data instead of sparse columns, and their benefits and pitfalls. Finally, he will dive into the FileStream feature in SQL server and its data structure.
Sathya Nekkanti is a Microsoft certified IT Professional for SQL server 2008 for development and DBA as well. Currently working for FNC Inc. for the past 13 years in the role of Senior Manager/Database Architect, primarily focusing on several banking FNC systems Database Architect Design and maintenance. Before joining FNC Sathya worked for PlanetRX.com where he worked on design and work flow engine for retail and prescription orders. Prior to PlanetRx Sathya worked on several Banking applications for international transactions applying SWIFT(Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecom) principles.
