And the content of their jukebox is not too bad. I fucking love jukeboxes in this country :-P

I'm pretty new to the area, and obviously, there's a lot of great bands that have come out of San Francisco: I'm wondering where the good underground SF bands are and what's the local scene like? I love going to local shows...any suggestions on where to go?

Thanks for the restauraunt suggestion! No you're not tripping! I do live in the South Bay--I don't live in Sunnyvale though, not sure why on my profile it says Sunnyvale lol.

oh well, that place rocks.. i go there often, it's cheap, vegan, and tastes amazing.. the guy cooks for the monks in the monastery near by.. all fresh ingredients and takes great pride in what he does, he is a cool dude!

Seems like some didnt know Devin Townsend.. I gotta post this, from when he was in Strapping Young Lad, showcasing his previous signature haircut, his wicked sense of humor and his evil touch.. Some background here, Strapping Young Lad has always been in parallel with Devin Townsend Project, only difference being (as far as I know) that he would write music for SYL when he was pissed off, while the music for DTP when he was happy.. Since now he has kids and seems to be in a much better space, SYL is gone.. but oh boy what a band it was..

Ya, that was a real bummer

Atlas Moth was better on cd, Devin Townsend was a pretentious prick who plays some excellent metal and metal showtunes. I found it to be more performance art that I would pay $20 at BotH to experience again. He really should have a bigger sf following. And Gogira has one fuckin epic song. I left soon thereafter.

oh man, I'd never heard of Devin but I was holding my sides laughing. gojira was one of the most energy inducing bands I've seen in a few years, and I was wholly impressed with both them and DTP. Atlas Moth would have been a better time to burn one than gojira, but they were pretty alright, little too drone for me.

Okay okay maybe "pretentious prick" is a bit much. He's a huge fuckin weirdo, and I love that. Definitely looking forward to his next show.

Rachel and I are at Fat Angel, sitting at the window. Come have a beer with us!

The show starts at 8pm (according to website), so I'll be at Fat Angel from 6pm to get something to eat.

They don't take reservations so whoever gets there first please grab a space. After people have had food, if there is time, we could go elsewhere for a drink before the show.

If you want my number, in case you can't find the group, send me a private message.

    See you all tomorrow \m/

Anyone still need a ticket? Looks like I'll have an extra.

    • Sarah Reiff

Sorry but actually it looks like my friend can still make it so I won't have an extra after all. Sorry!

      January 23

  • Natalie

Wow, this is turning into a big group! If anyone's interested in meeting up for a drink before the show, I've been wanting to check out The Social Study on Geary. There's also Fat Angel on O'Farrell, but that place gets crowded. See ya next week!
