October's meeting will be ground-breaking for us in several ways: new place and a new method of presentation! Our speaker lives in Austin, Texas and will be speaking to us via Google Hangout online.
Chris Wiegman will be talking about the best ways to protect WordPress and recover from disaster. Topics will include general security best practices, plugin and theme development, backups, and disaster recovery.
Chris Wiegman, a WordPress security guru lives in Austin, Texas.
Chris is a Senior Developer for Springbox where he works on projects of all sizes and description. In addition, he is the developer of the Better WP Security plugin which currently has over 1 million downloads on WordPress.org.
Finally, Chris is an adjunct member of the Computer Science faculty at St. Edward’s University where he teaches courses ranging from basic HTML to advanced computer security.

Parking is available at Grand Circus Parking, across the street from Grand Circus, or at the Detroit Opera House parking garage, located on Broadway. Parking is $5 (unless there's a special event).
The Detroit Opera House parking garage is a short walk up Broadway and around the corner from the Grand Circus space. Here's parking information from the Broderick Tower website (PDF).
Grand Circus is located inside the Broderick Tower; the entrance is at 1570 Woodward Avenue. There will be someone at the Woodward entrance to let you into the building. Once inside, take the elevator to the 4th floor.
