Run WordPress Locally on Your Android Tablet
Cliff exploits the powers of an Android tablet to be used as a full service WordPress Developer tool. He will go through apps that can let you run a local PHP server as well as apps to code with, all without having an internet connection. Along with apps with an internet connection, Cliff will show that its possible to take advantage of your Android tablet and not have the need to lug around a laptop if only quick changes are anticipated on your WordPress site.
Demo of Headway, a Drag and Drop Framework for WordPress Sites
"Drag and drop" is usually associated with ease of use. And to more advanced developers, drag and drop is sometimes dismissed as something for amateurs.
But can Headway be a solution for both amateurs and professionals? More importantly, is it a solution that would fit your needs?
Steve will demonstrate how to create a WordPress site by drawing out "blocks" for headers, footers, menus, sidebars, content, and more. Then he'll show you how to style your blocks with backgrounds, spacing, fonts, borders.
Are there tradeoffs? How long does it take to get up to speed? Steve will answer your questions and share his insights on how Headway compares to other major WordPress frameworks.
Metro Detroit WordPress group member Steve Glick designs and develops website solutions for businesses, associations, and political candidates around southeast Michigan. He creates WordPress websites using Headway, Genesis, and WooThemes frameworks.
Cliff Nowicki is a UI Designer that has been working around the metro Detroit area with his design skills for the past 12 years.
Cliff is currently a UI Designer at Search Optics in Ferndale, MI working together with fellow designers to make high quality web designs for Tier II and Tier III automotive dealerships. Cliff has a strong passion for UI/UX design and can be seen geeking out over WordPress, grid systems, responsive and mobile design in the most unnatural way. Since his laptop has broken down, he has been finding many ways to use his Android tablet as a workstation. He also loves Chipotle. A lot.
