A Midsummer Sunday WordPress Meetup

Lara Galloway of Mom Biz Coach will be our guest speaker for July. Have you been wondering how you can get paid to do work you love? It's possible and profitable to earn an income from blogging, but there are pros and cons.

In her talk, “Turn Your Blog into a Business,” Lara Galloway, will share:

  • Why bloggers make the best marketers in today’s economy
  • Why brands want to pay you, and what they expect in return
  • The difference between blogging as a hobby and blogging as a business
  • The reason you might not want to monetize your blog
  • How to take the first steps to transform your blog into a business

Lara Galloway, helps mom entrepreneurs manage successful businesses while successfully managing their families.

She coaches and mentors women business owners to create business plans, marketing strategies, powerful pitches and product funnels along with websites, blogs and social media profiles. Lara helps her clients create successful businesses that complement their lifestyles without compromising their family commitments.

Often featured as a go-to resource for women in business by Forbes, Crain's Business, and The Chicago Tribune, Lara offers coaching via MomBizAcademy and is co-founder of Mom Biz Retreat.

Of course, we'll also sneak in a few WordPress-related tips and tricks, with a bit of Q&A and talk a bit about what's new in WordPress 3.4.

We'll close with the popular 5 Things About WordPress. You will have to attend to find out.

Thank you, Todd and Deb. mombizcoach is interesting and nice. Twenty-seven thousand followers is an illumination. The blogging advice is good and echoes the Sunday morning ordained professor from Western Michigan at 2011 WordCamp Detroit. Mombiz is a topic worth gaining awareness of. I knjow Tina Reyes attended for the first time and might attend in August; I know her from Motown Writers. It was a chance for me to keep my mouth shut, which is good experience for me. I've received a LinkedIn invitation from someone in Atlanta, which may indicate heavy duty networking activity by the presenter I want to call her Lara please excuse my hurrying without a look at my notes; one of the they inviter's links is a woman in a field of interest, but I lacked her email address. Lara's story is of great interest, I mean the transition from something little to something big and the way it's a function of life changes and life needs. It's good to hear about kids being part of life. 1,000 bytes

Wonderful, insightful speaker. I learned some very important fundamental ways to approach my blog. In addition, the speaker kept on track and delivered an excellent presentation. I would love to see more meetings like this one!

I'm relatively new to the blogging community, but I use blogger, not wordpress. Would this meetup be informative to me as well?

    Hi Marylynn,

Hope you come back soon! We recognize that our members have different levels of knowledge and we're doing our best to offer different types of events. I think you would find Lara's presentation to be less technical than others we've offered this year.

I do so appreciate all I have met through this group, but I am just learning web stuff at work and this group has far surpassed my knowledge. Hopefully soon I'll be back and able to follow it! You all are amazing!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
