Weekend Astronomy Night

Begin with a simulated view of the stars in the dome theater at the John R. Kirk Planetarium, Coykendall Science Building at SUNY New Paltz. Multiple shows will be offered to accomodate the public.

After the show, if the sky is clear, observe the wonders of the night sky with telescopes at the Smolen Observatory, next to Alumni Soccer Field, SUNY New Paltz.

This is a jointly sponsored event by SUNY NP & MHAA.
We have quite a few members volunteering but we can always use more. Even if you don't have a scope, we can use volunteers for crowd control or, you can just come out to enjoy the event. We expect to offer back to back planetarium shows. Folks waiting for the next show can go out to the Observatory or view an Astronomy DVD (either "Origins" or the "Life and Death of a Star") on one of the large screens in a nearby lecture room.
