Dinner at Flanigan's in the Grove

Due to miserable weather, again, we are cancelling the paddle portion of the evening and proceeding to the after paddle.  Wanna eat, have a drink or two, hang out?  Meet at Flanigan's at 7pm.

Ask for the kayak people from The Paddle House.

If you're coming, please call or e-mail me as soon as you get a chance.

PS  Remember to always drink responsibly.  If you drink too much you may spill your drink, piss off your date, insult your friends, crash, get arrested, and ruin your entire evening, life and/or worse.  In other words, we are adults so be responsible about it ; )

We'll paddle out on the bay past Eco-Island where we can watch the sun set behind the city.  Bring your camera (waterproof are best) the photos can be amazing.  This is an ideal paddle for beginners and first timers as well as experienced paddlers.  Conditions will determine the direction of the paddle.

Enjoy a beautiful sunset paddle on Biscayne Bay.

Make sure you bring your lights! The more lights, the better as it will be dark when we return, but you must have at least ONE! The lights also allow other boaters to see us on the water and thus not run us over, thereby ruining our evening!

Bring something to drink and and eat.  A change of dry clothes are a good idea too.

Reservations are Required - RSVP please to The Paddle House

Rentals: Special Club Rentals are available for those in need at the special rate of $30/single and $40/tandem kayaks. You must reserve your boat in advance.  Please call The Paddle House at (786)[masked] or stop on by to reserve your boat and pick-up some lights.  We're at 2753 SW 27th Ave. on the corner of SW 27th Ave and 28th Lane, between Shell Lumber and US1.

Launch Fee: There is a $5 launch fee if you bring your own kayak. Well worth it since parking in the Coconut Grove if included.  Please bring cash.

Parking: Pull a ticket at the Shake-A-Leg Miami lot. Be sure to get your parking validated or you will pay upward of $12 cash at the exit. Parking is free with Shake A Leg validation.  If the lot is full, overflow parking is usually available at Shake-A-Leg Miami.

What to bring: Camera, drinks, snack, your boat, your paddle, your PFD (which you will wear). Don't forget your bug spray, just in case. Wear appropriate clothing (avoid cotton and open toe shoes/flip flops).

The fine print:

By participating in any of our paddles you assume all risks and responsibilities for your personal health and safety and for your equipment; as well as the safety and equipment of your guests. It is important for everyone that each participant be prepared for the trip. Please use your discretion and best judgment when joining an outing. Be sure you are up to the paddle -- physically, mentally and that your equipment is appropriate for the intended trip. All night paddles require lights; even for rentals or borrowed boats. PFD and whistles are required. Intermediate to Advanced Paddles are for those who have substantial experience, skill, and solid knowledge of boat handling and self-rescues. Kayaking has inherent risks. Often, we are the smallest boats on the water. We each individually assume these risks each time we go out on the water. With all that being said, we all look forward to yet another great day on the water.

RVSP YES, BUT ... Rumor has it we live in a place called "sunny Florida" though that sure hasn't been the case recently - especially not on Thursdays. I'm always happy to do this paddle BUT if it is raining tonight I'll pass. Standing by to standby.

Time change, the post is recurring. We can have a weekend sunset paddle. Thursday weather has been tough the past few months. Ugh.

    Hi all,

If you are planning on attending, please send me an e-mail. The radar looks, well, not so great right now. It has been tough the past few months in terms of weather. Hopefully it will clear up. If it's raining I will cancel the paddle for this evening. With temps in the low 70's upper 60's a wet night ride is not much fun.

For those set on a an evening paddle. You can always launch from the Seminole boat ramp on Bayshore and 27th Ave. With demolition of the convention center, I am not certain as to the parking situation. Worse case is you park at City Hall.

This weather has to improve eventually. Right? :\ The upside, we should have a great weekend.

Please feel free to call or e-mail me. Esther
