Full Moon Paddle from Watson Island

We'll paddle out on the bay towards Miami Beach, noddle around the islands, maybe visit Monument Island, or head the creeks.  It's Boat Show Weekend!  That means the big yachts are in town and docked all around the beach.

Make sure you bring your lights! The more lights, the better as it will be dark when we return, but you must have at least ONE! The lights also allow other boaters to see us on the water and thus not run us over, thereby ruining our evening!

Bring something to drink and and eat.  A change of dry clothes are a good idea too.

Advanced Reservations are Required - RSVP please to The Paddle House

Rentals: Special Club Rentals are available for those in need at the special rate of $35/single kayak or Paddle board, and $45/tandem kayaks. You must reserve your boat in advance.  Please call The Paddle House at (786)[masked] or stop on by to reserve your boat and pick-up some lights.  We're at 2753 SW 27th Ave. on the corner of SW 27th Ave and 28th Lane, between Shell Lumber and US1.

Launch Fee: None, but you will have to pay for parking.

Parking: Master meter will take your cash.  Rates range from $5 to $10

What to bring: Camera, drinks, snack, your boat, your paddle, your PFD (which you will wear). Don't forget your bug spray, just in case. Wear appropriate clothing (avoid cotton and open toe shoes/flip flops).

Difficulty:  Moderate.  Expect boat traffic and wake at times.  We will stop twice so you can break up the trip and rest in between.

Parking:  Metered Parking is available at the marina.  Don't forget to feed the meter.

The fine print:

By participating in any of our paddles you assume all risks and responsibilities for your personal health and safety and for your equipment; as well as the safety and equipment of your guests. It is important for everyone that each participant be prepared for the trip. Please use your discretion and best judgment when joining an outing. Be sure you are up to the paddle -- physically, mentally and that your equipment is appropriate for the intended trip. All night paddles require lights; even for rentals or borrowed boats. PFD and whistles are required. Intermediate to Advanced Paddles are for those who have substantial experience, skill, and solid knowledge of boat handling and self-rescues. Kayaking has inherent risks. Often, we are the smallest boats on the water. We each individually assume these risks each time we go out on the water. With all that being said, we all look forward to yet another great day on the water.

Beautiful in the lee of the wind with lots of water moving. Hit the wind in the open section of the bay, wrapped around one of the islands and played in 1' to 1.5' chop! Monument Island was lovely under the light of the moon. Strong bunch of paddlers handled the evening extremely well. Love the excitement of the chop chop! Thanks guys for coming out!!

Hi, Esther, thanks for organizing and letting us know. I am an intermediate kayaker and I have no problem with tonight's conditions. If there are enough people for the paddle tonight, I am in. Actually, my only concern is my boat is a hybrid (Liquidlogic XP-10) so I will be slower than those on a sea kayak at full throttle, but I don't think this is that type of paddle. I'll be checking for status...

Sorry, I am a little confused. Where is everyone meeting for this? The event on the Paddle House website says the location is at Shake-A-Leg Miami (2620 South Bayshore Drive, Coconut Grove, FL) which is where I assume we will be renting the kayaks. The location listed for this meetup is at 980 MacArthur Causeway, Miami, FL.
