sail to cape sable

Launch at flamingo, sail west around the tip of florida, then north up the west coast.  The SW tip is called cape sable.  And there is a long curving beach there. Miles of beach. You can anchor off the beach and camp ashore.  Or sleep on the boat.  The kayak club will be present so there should be a great camping event going on.

If you have your own boat, the ramp fee is $5.  That is after you pay admission to the park.  The water can be  very shallow.  Currents can be rough too.  The wind generally blows from the east so you will have to tack all the way back (about 15 miles)

This area is very remote.  Very Very remote.  So be sure you pack everything you need.  The stars are very bright as a result of no ambient light.  We may make side trips to Carl ross key, or north to mid cape

If you want to ride on my boat, you must bring your camping gear and sleep ashore.  Fee is $60 for the 2 days,  You will need your own food and camp gear. If you do not have any camping gear let me know.

If you would prefer to kayak, thats fine.  I have boats you could rent, or bring your own.

Hello Miles. I haven't sailed with you in a while. I think somehow my edress was deleted from the site. Looking forward to setting sail soon!

Just wanted to say hello. Just joined the group to spend some time with fellow sailors. Just moved up to Lauderdale so time on the water is less than when on Biscayne Bay, that said lets go sailing. Sorry won't attend this outing and not sure of protocall here but for those interested in some serious sailing keep an eye on the postings. By the way thats me on a shake down sail up from the Keys on my Lady Stella Maris
