  • Hi everyone:

The San Jose Opera is right in our own backyard, and we are off to see their production of "Die Fledermaus".  We will meet for dinner beforehand at Arcadia, a Michael Minna restaurant, just around the corner from the opera.

Die Fledermaus:

A practical joke. A secret rendezvous. One man’s elaborate plan for revenge leads to a rousing evening of mistaken identities, flirtations, and light-hearted deceit in Johann Strauss’ most celebrated operetta, Die Fledermaus. Set in 19th-century Vienna, this delightful farce is filled with effervescent melodies, lilting waltzes and charming sentiment. From the sparkling overture to the rollicking tribute to champagne, the Waltz King’s madcap masterpiece is the jewel of the golden age of operetta.

  • Rather than handling the tickets/payment myself (which will pose a bit of a challenge), I think it would be best if we each got our own tickets, even if that means we'll sit separately.  This way, you can get the seat you want!  Please buy your ticket at http://operasj.org/tickets/die-fledermaus/  for the Nov. 10th performance, then confirm in your meetup rsvp that you've purchased your ticket.  (Try to get a seat on the Balcony if you can!)  I would recommend doing this ASAP, as the tickets are going fast.  Then meet that evening at Arcadia for dinner before the show.  It will be great fun!

    Any questions, let me know.

Julie, Thanks! I'd love to go but apparently I can't buy a last minute ticket online :( as they do not do will-call. Next time! I love opera! Anna

Thanks...I'll change my RSVP. If it was a dinner/dance formal-dress event I wouldn't mind $100, but just for music it's way too much money for my preference.

My favorite opera, but I can't commit at this time. If it turns out my other event fall through (a strong possibility), I'll try to get tix for this one.
