Meditation and Discussion with Bhante Upananda

Topic: As the mind deceives us

The Venerable Upananda T Dedunupitiye, or simply Bhante Upananda, has been a Buddhist monk for 31 years. Currently he is Abbot of Ehipassiko Buddhist Centre, Calgary, Canada, and Resident Buddhist Teacher of Sambuddhaloka Buddhist Vihara, Riverside, California.

Bhante Upananda has extensive mission experience from Sri Lanka, Singapore, USA and Canada as a meditation instructor, Dharma teacher and guidance counselor. Formerly a lecturer in Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, and at Ren Ci University College, Singapore, he earned his BA and MA in Pali & Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya, Certificate in Addiction Studies at Mount Royal College in Canada, M.A. in Religious Studies and Graduate Certificate in Asian Studies at Florida International University in Miami. As a Guidance Counselor, he has extensive experience in the areas of Juvenile & Family Counseling, Counseling for Law Enforcement Personnel, Counseling for Drug Addicts. In North America he is one of the senior Insight (Vipassana) Meditation Instructors. He is proficient in English, Sinhalese, Pali and Sanskrit. Currently, he is pursuing his PhD studies at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
