We had such great response to members wanted to volunteer at Stand Down, that we're organizing a small group to share Reiki on Saturday as well!
More Information About the Event:
Stand Down is a Department of Veterans Affairs event providing community and services for homeless Veterans. Organized across the country, and typically one to three day events, Stand Downs provide services to homeless Veterans such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings, VA and Social Security benefits counseling, and referrals to a variety of other necessary services, such as housing, employment and substance abuse treatment. Stand Downs are collaborative events, coordinated between local VAs, other government agencies, and community agencies who serve the homeless.
Several members of the MRC volunteered for this event last year, providing free 10-minute Reiki treatments to attendees. We are honored to have been asked to participate again this year to share Reiki with as many Vets as possible to help address symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder and other physical and emotional pain these former defenders of our country suffer from.
We hope the effects of our sharing will also help the VA to recognize Reiki is an excellent way to address the mental and physical health issues facing our Veterans. If you would like to volunteer your Reiki hands to touch some hearts, RSVP below.
Note: Molly will be coordinating the Saturday group.
