Volunteer Opportunity: Reiki at the VA!

Hey, Reiki Lights,

Great news! The Midwest Reiki Community has made incredible progress offering Reiki to veterans in conjunction with the Jesse Brown VA over the past couple years. As a result, we have received an invitation to offer Reiki within their facility on a regular basis. This means our nation’s heroes will have ongoing access to Reiki, and VA physicians, psychiatrists and staff will gain an understanding of the tremendous benefits Reiki has to offer. The potential to shift thinking about how to manage pain and PTSD (and maybe even international conflict) at this most guarded of military institutions is within our grasp.

Are you practicing Reiki professionally? If so, can you offer one or two (or three or four...) shifts/month?

We’re looking for volunteers for the following three-hour shifts, all taking place at the Jesse Brown VA at 820 S. Damen in Chicago:

Monday 11am-2pm

Wednesday 1pm-4pm

Friday 9am-noon

We’ll be working in pairs, offering up mini sessions right in and amongst regular VA operations, so it will be a great adventure. You do not need to commit to dates/times right now. We will be using a volunteer scheduler program, so you can sign up for the shifts you want (maybe with your bestest Reiki buddy) as we go along.

There are, of course, hoops to jump through. Before you are able to participate, we’ll need you to:

• Provide documentation that you are practicing professionally and hold liability insurance. (Here’s the incentive if you have not yet done so).

• Complete the VA volunteer application/background check/orientation. (This will take about a month for the VA to process).

• Be prepared to change the course of history. (Timeframe TBD).

Good luck to all that can attend . I live in the area about 5 mibutes away actually. I am hoping that all goes well for all you that are volunteering. I've participated in events like this with the lovely veterans for a few years now. I know all will go well. Love and light. Peace.

Sorry, I am not yet qualified to volunteer. One of my goals for 2014 is to be qualified for these opportunities.

Heather, I would be happy to offer help but I do not practice professionally and have no liability insurance. If those criteria change, please be in touch so that I might participate. Thank you!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
