We've been busy this summer!
The MilCoG has teamed up with Cold Iron Conventions and in June we hosted Milwaukee Summer Revel. About 200 people total showed up and it was a grand time. We raffled off over 50 prizes; here is a partial list of sponsors who gave games for the raffle and for the demo library:
Fantasy Flight Games
Out of the Box Games
Rio Grande Games
Please FB friend these companies and support companies that support us! Pics of the prizes are in the photo album here: http://www.milcog.com/photos/2330451/
We also had the annual Jamey and Erika Birthday Game-a-thon. Thanks to all who resisted other summer activities offered to them to join us! It was so fun the fridge up and died. RIP Game Garage Fridge - Long live Game garage Fridge II!
We just wrapped up Talk Like a Pirate Day Game-a-thon. Pics are here: http://www.milcog.com/photos/3342432/ We had to bust out the newish Gamer Reserve in the basement so it was a full garage - somewhere around 45 gamers filling 9 tables. It was a such great time I forgot to give out the prizes for the best costumes - I will add those to the Halloween Game-a-thon! We played:
Battle Ship Galaxies x2
Tetris Link x6
Blood Bowl Team Manager
Pirates of the Caribbean
Mansions of Madness
Merchants and Marauders x2
Sorry Sliders x8
Princes of the Renaissance
Ninja - Legend of the Scorpion Clan
And of course several rounds of Werewolf.
I've recently added more events to the calendar so check it out. Also I will be working on an official FAQ, revising membership policy, posting some simple rules (due to some shenanigans), and polishing the club for a more organized, more time for fun events year next year.
Reminder: this year the usually over crowded Halloween party is taking place at Dan's Con of the Vale in conjunction with Cold Iron Conventions and Milwaukee's Best Nightlife Meetup. It should be a great time so check out that meetup event and RSVP now!
Just a few reminders: Please don't use this group to SPAM our members about your own business or other groups or meetups! As you can see I barely contact members about this group's own events because I think not being hassled is important. Unlike other groups that are just facades for someone's retail opportunities, this group existed a year before it was sponsored and its purpose is to provide its members a fun, stress free place to game and not for the profitability of some business venture. I also don't run this meetup as a marketing outlet for other groups. That said I totally encourage everyone to support our sponsors / friends who are generous and honest in their dealings with us and thank you for supporting honest companies and Meetups like the MilCog. Don't forget you can control how much / what kinds of email you get from this meetup in your profile/account section if you are getting too much or not enough email from the group.
Its getting to the be the gaming season again and it should be an exciting one!
