Dave W reminded me it was time for another Bluefish game. Guess his gear has dried off from last year. But hey: a night out at the ball park is always a good time.
I've got some seats along near home plate and have got us roaming rights with the Bluefish brass: shooters are free to move around the stadium so long as they don't block others. With a 7:05 start we'll have some natural light to play with for about a half hour, then set your ISOs to high to catch the action. Check out shots from last year's event in the album archive.
MONOPOD LOANERS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PART OF THE EVENING: I plan on bringing a case of monopods for those of you who'd like to shoot with one. Monopods are invaluable in this kind of environment and using one will help stabilize you to concentrate on the action. Loaners can be picked up with tickets and will be returned by 8:30pm that evening. Jess will be on hand for the returns then. Please be sure to have an ID for the monopod loaner. If you love it you can buy it!
CONSIDER RENTING A FAST TELEPHOTO LENS! We rent some pretty cool lenses for this kind of low light action shooting. We have a couple of[masked]s for Canon, Nikon and Sony, 1ea[masked] Sigma for Canon or Nikon, AND a 300mm 2.8 Nikon you can rent for the evening. First come first serve! Give Jess or Phil a call at the store to reserve one for the game.
PLEASE READ THESE NOTES BELOW:
In addition to the longest, fastest telephoto lens you have bring a monopod if you have it. Shoe flashes can probably stay in the bag. No tripods please.
This meetup will be held rain or shine depending on the Bluefish and unaffiliated league rules covering such things.
There is plenty of parking at the ballpark.
I'll have the tickets and will be at the main entrance and statue by 6:15. Please try to arrive by 6:45; after that the tickets will be at the will call window and you'll need ID to collect them.
I reserve the right to change any details!
