Holiday lights on the Milford Green

Nothing says the holidays like the brisk air in your lungs and cold snap of your shutters. The Milford Green is litup postcard pretty: good time to practice your night time shooting skills or learn some outright. Last year we tried some night painting of the Gazeebo and we'll do it again with a couple of those BFLs (big friggin light); we made some of the best frames I'd ever had after running this event on and off for almost 20 years. Look for them in the meetup album archive under painting the holiday lights for ideas.

$10 per person contact the store to register without paypal.

Proceeds from this event fee will be donated to the American Red Cross.

YOU WILL NEED:

Dress accordingly especially your feet. It may be chilly.

A tripod is a neccesity. A flash light is very useful.

Bring an extra battery if you have one: long exposures and the cold will sap your battery.

Tips: practice setting up and mounting your camera on your tripod before coming out.

You might need to manual focus so practice.

Learn to use your self timer or consider getting a remote release.

Unfortunately for me, I was not able to attend. However I do intend to get to the next event, and the photos were indeed great.

I met a fellow photographer at Cafe Atlantique (I want to say Frank, but am HORRIBLE with names!). Anyway, we were talking about Mr. Shapiro's class and I promised some information on CAW - http://www.creativeartsworkshop...

To keep this on topic, last night was my first night shooting in RAW and my nieces's first time shooting with a DSLR. We had such an awesome time! Thanks so much, can't wait to do it again.

Ah Johnny B. One of my favorite characters. Missed still. See you Ed.

The last time I went on your Lights on the Green walk-about, we used FILM and I loaned John Bonaventure batteries for his $5000+ Canons. I kidded him later about Kirkland (Costco) batteries powering his big guns. I think I can make it. See you during the week, Jesse, to pay.

How can I change my name to the correct spelling?

    November 18, 2012

    • David G. W.

Up at the top of the meetup page, under account, go to general in the drop down. In the general profile page, there should be a link that says edit net to your name. You should be able to change it on the next page.

Thank you very much. Maybe i should take a spelling class instead of a photography class!!!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
