Nikon 1 series users class

PLEASE NOTE THE CLASS DISCRIPTION HAS CHANGED 1-6-13. ONLY J1 AND V1 CAMERAS WILL BE COVERED.

We'll plug in and review functions, settings and shortcuts found on Nikon's popular J1 and V1 cameras. With an eye toward using these cameras for better images of people, places and things indoors and out. A few overrides like exposure compensation, white balance control or special shooting modes will be discussed. A good class for new owners of the 1 series of for those of you who've had one and are looking for help on getting the most out of it. Accessory use, especially lenses and flashes, will be reviewed too.

Participants are encouraged to bring their gear but this is not a shooting event.

Good time last night: a fun baker's dozen. I was unable to get the focus tracking to work on my J1 and said i'd post the solution here.
It turns out this feature won't work while plugged into the HDMI cable: today it works great. You can use this mode to follow a moving subject and focus will stay sharp. Or at least try.
    GO TO MODE

CAMERA ICON then DIAL down to AF AREA MODE

PRESS OK and dial down to SUBJECT TRACKING

    PRESS OK

    PRESS your SHUTTER RELEASE

your camera is in shooting mode again. Now when you focus on your subject and HOLD YOUR FINGER ON THE RELEASE, you or you subject can move and the focus spot will hold on them.

Cool! J1/V1 owners should consider my Point and Shoot class on Feb 11th. I think you'd enjoy it. Best, JT

Hey Jesse, I bought one for Diane for Christmas but she works late Thursdays. If you run this again on the weekend please let me know. Many thanks.
