June 7 Update:
The updated accounting sheet can be found at this link. The final values are contingent upon receiving all of the "pending" numbers, but at this point, everything collected will go towards the group. As it stands, we'll have approximately 250$ to split among the group. As a final reminder, there will be no refunds issued today, but you are welcome to gift or sell your attendance.
Be kind and meet as close to 5:45 as you are able at Pere Marquette Park. Parking around there can be difficult in the afternoon, so you may have to bite the bullet and put it in a surface lot or parking garage. Once you are at the park, walk towards the river and it is fairly obvious where the boats are. Look for the giant pontoon style boats with the tent/canopy roofs.
Rain is expected to hold off until after 9pm (though the boat will have cover/roof just in case), and the temperatures will be in the high 60s and low 70s.
See you all later today!
June 2 Update:
The final payment for the chartered boat cruise was made earlier this morning. Jason was kind enough to make an accounting sheet for us, which I have updated to show all payments, the cost of the charter + gratuity, and the remainder that we have left over. As of June 2, we have ~125$ in the "bank" to use at the places we visit. As a reminder and consistent with what we outlined in our refund policy for this event, we are not issuing refunds, but you are welcome to gift or sell your "ticket" as you see fit.
I took a walk along the riverwalk from our place in the 3rd ward to the Pere Marquette Dock to Lakefront to scope out the places that we can most easily have the boat docked. The plan is to meet at Pere Marquette Park on Saturday no later than 5:45pm for a prompt 6:00pm departure (I'll probably be across the street at the Brat House having dinner and/or drinks at 4:45 or 5 myself), and go north first to Lakefront Brewery where they have an enormous outdoor seating area set up. We will plan on getting pitchers of beer from the main bar to maximize our surplus, but individual pints are available for purchase at their outdoor patio area as well (cash only though outside).
After Lakefront, we can choose as a group which bar(s) to check out. If ones along the river are too crowded, we can always park at a public slip, and walk a few feet to a neighboring facility. If time permits, we can try to go as far south as Riverfront Pizzeria though obviously we will play it by ear based on people's moods and preferences.
See you all soon!
We're confirmed for June 7th at 6pm, woo hoo! Right now our contract is for 2 hours, but we can add additional hours provided that 1)everyone is ok with it and 2)there is availability to do so. For example, if you all want to use the overages (if any) that we collect for food/drink at the places we're hitting that evening, that'd be one option, or if you'd rather use the overages for a 3rd hour and just pay a la carte where we go, that's also fine. As an FYI, I did not sign us up for a drink or food package since not everyone that is going may want this option.
I've modified the RSVP settings to reflect that because this is high value event, we will be requiring payment in advance. The easiest way to do this is to use PayPal, but in case you don't have an account/don't want an account, please message Andy or Jason on how to best arrange payment either in person or by mailing a check. Your RSVP will not be confirmed until payment has cleared (or cash in hand). RSVPs will re-open at 1:30 central time on Friday, April 11.
Riverwalk General Info
Due to the larger than expected demand for an after work self driven pontoon boat deal, the event has been changed to accommodate up to 45 guests with a private chartered (with a Captain and a bathroom on board) vessel.
- The two hour charter is 590$, and with a 5.6% tax, it comes out to 625$. If at least 30 people show up, it'll cover the cost of the charter + fuel surcharge + gratuity for the captain
- The maximum capacity of the vessel is 45 (forty five)
- Unfortunately, there is not a BYOB policy on these chartered boats.
The cost will be 25$ per person. Any overages that are collected will go towards treats/food/beverages for the group that evening; alternatively, we can apply any overages to an extra hour on the water.
