As an FYI, I just drove by on Friday evening to see the parking situation. The repaved road was actually open and people were parked alongside it...not sure what the real situation is, but be prepared on Monday to either park alongside the access road or at one of the parking spots per the figure below! Cheer!
May 22 Update: The MKE County Parks Dept called me and let me know that while the access road with parking has been repaved as of yesterday, the construction company is not allowing them to open up the road by Monday, which is a real bummer. As a result, what you see above depicts the following:
- The orange star is our picnic site.
- The parking signs are the best places to park; we'll just have to hoof it over from wherever we park
- If you need to unload things, feel free to get as close as you can to the barrier to unload items like grills or tents (the little crate symbol).

March 6 Update:
I've secured an actual reservation at a picnic grove for Lake Park Area #1. Attached are the contract (for transparency reasons only), as well as the description and amenities associated with the park. In addition to reserving the picnic area, the fee included the alcohol permit for our group, which as some of you may know - is a really really really really really sore spot with Andy as it relates to another unnamed Meetup group. Snarky Snark.
Lake Park Amenities
As the name suggests, a picnic to commemorate those who lost their lives serving in the armed forces - a fact not lost on me that it was because of their hard work and perseverance that a naturalized citizen as myself can now be a civil servant of the U.S. as well.
Let's do this fun and right, MKE FUN Style!
I (Andy) will cover the cost of obtaining the alcohol license, and you all bring yourselves, your picnic blankets, your food to share, your drinks to drink, your encased meatz to grill, and anything else that you would find acceptable/favorable to celebrate this shindig!
As the day draw nearer, I'm sure we'll have some type of rough sign up sheet like we did for the holiday party, but I can at least bring my portable gas grill.
Bored of eating, or hanging out with people? Bring your sporting equipment (tennis rackets, frisbees, balls/mitts, bags, etc.)!
Lastly - we don't get to do this often, but this will be a family friendly event, so bring your chirrrruns, and yes - even well behaved pets.
