This MiniBar will focus entirely on Big Data. There is alot of hype regarding Big Data and therefore confusion. Every day, we create 2.5 quintillion bytes of data, so much that 90% of the world’s data has been created in the last 2 years. This data comes from everywhere: sensors used to gather climate information, posts to social media sites, digital pictures and videos, purchase transaction records and mobile phone GPS signals to name a few.
Simply put, Big Data is the concept that datasets have become so large and awkward that traditional database management tools are not fit-for-purpose. We therefore need new methods such as Hadoop to gain value from all this data.
