The Little Canada Book Club has temporarily moved to the Maplewood Library to accommodate a slightly larger audience.
Our book this month is, "Cultural Intelligence," by Minnesota Atheists member, Brooks Peterson. While this book does not address atheism, it will be interesting to hear what a group of atheists take away from the ideas which are presented.
Cultural Intelligence is designed to explain methods for understanding different cultures, including your own, in order to facilitate better communication. While this book is a perfect fit for any HR director at a company which deals with people from other countries, I think that it is useful for anyone who wants to be conscious of culture and how it can affect communication.
Brooks may be making an appearance, so this is a great chance to tear his ideas apart, or applaud them. He also holds a Ph. D. in Second Languages and Cultures, so you don't have to go easy on him, ask him the tough questions.
Grant Steves will be facilitating the discussions. You may contact him if you are interested in purchasing a copy of Cultural Intelligence for $20, as Brooks has 9 copies available.
