March in the May Day Parade

  • May 5, 2013 · 12:30 PM
  • Cedar Field

Parade Lineup starts at noon, parade starts at 1:00.

The May Day Parade and Festival in South Minneapolis is one of the funnest events Minnesota Atheists get to do during the year. We gather at Cedar Field at noon to march down Bloomington Ave from Cedar Field to Powderhorn Park. We carry signs as we march to educate the public about us. We never fail to get a welcoming and enthusiastic response from the crowd!

After the parade, you are welcome to meet at our booth. It's a great chance to talk to people who are supporters of our causes, even if they are not atheists. Many of them feel just as strongly about the importance of the separation of church and state as we do. So stop on by the booth, or better yet, march in the parade to show your support!

For more information:

Visit The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theater page:

If you are interested in helping set up, staff, or take down the booth, contact Steve Petersen at [masked] or[masked]-9277.

If you have any additional questions, you may contact Heather Hegi at [masked]

Come wearing your Minnesota Atheists t-shirt, or get your own special edition Minnesota Atheists T-Shirt that reads: "One Nation Indivisible" (suggested donation of $5). We welcome members of all freethought groups to march with us (though parade rules will only allow our Minnesota Atheists signs).

The organizers of the parade and booth request we do not bring disposable water bottles and encourage everyone to bring their own reusable water bottles.

Always fun. The crowds love us, as shown by everyone who took us up on our "hug an atheist" signs.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the booth. I missed the parade this year, but with it being as wonderful May Day I expect the cheers were great.

Sorry but I'm starting another bout of diver-tickle-itus and wouldn't be able to walk the parade. If things progress OK will try to get to the booth to staff it and help the close-up.

Bicycle accident's aren't good! I hope you will be able to manage it. The route is roughly 1.4 miles long. And no one would be offended if you needed to skip out or join us half way through. The parade is along a bus route too, so that is nice.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
