Twin Cities GLBT Pride Fest & Parade, June 29 & 30 (Parade at 10:30 a.m. Sun.)

  • June 30, 2013 · 10:30 AM
  • TC Pride Parade

March with us in the parade and/or volunteer at the MNA booth!

Come show your support for separation of government and religion and help protect Minnesota’s Constitution from religious intolerance. Equal treatment under the law for all citizens (guaranteed by the 14th Amendment) has become one of the most visible state/church issues of our day. A victory by any group is a victory for all of us.

March in the annual Twin Cities GLBT Pride Parade

We'll meet up around 10:30 a.m. to march on Sunday, June 30th near 3rd St S and 3rd Ave S in downtown Minneapolis; the parade will start at 11:00am. Come wearing your Minnesota Atheists or Aints t-shirt, or get your own special edition Minnesota Atheists T-Shirt on the spot which reads: "One Nation Indivisible" on the back (suggested donation of $5). We welcome members of all freethought groups to march with us (though parade rules will only allow our Minnesota Atheists signs).

Volunteer to staff the Minnesota Atheists booth in Loring Park

Volunteers are needed. If you are interested in volunteering, please Sign Up Here, or Contact Heather at [masked]. Volunteer times are available between 10am-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

If you can't make it to the parade or volunteer, you can still stop by the booth to say hello. We are usually located in the southern end of Loring Park, near all of the church booths (but we're much more popular).

I love PRIDE and I love walking in the parade!

I like it, too. We always get the greatest cheers at that parade and the most enthusiastic hubs. At Pride this year, I only saw one person threaten to pray for us.

Best event! Had a great time... very meaningful. Unexpected enthusiasm from the crowds.

This is going to be a very special TC Pride since it's the weekend after SCOTUS struck down DOMA and seven months after Minnesotans voted against the marriage amendment! I would love to be there but I can't :(

    June 29, 2013

    • Patrick C.

don't forget we legalized marriage equality last month (: many victories to celebrate.

Ok so I accidentally clicked the wrong timeslot for the booth, and now it won't let me undo. I'll be there for the 12-1 on Sunday for sure. Just not the[masked]

    June 27, 2013

    • Heather H

...I removed you from that timeslot. Maybe it messed up due to special characters or spaces in the undo code?

      June 27, 2013

    • Patrick C.

ah I see. well I can still staff the booth when we get there if you want, I just have to leave by about 1:15 or so.

FYI: Meetup says it's going to be down Sunday from 6:00-9:30AM EST. Some people might be looking for this info in the AM. You could broadcast this out with an email message and/or add these details to the facebook event and facebook page for MN Atheists. When I clicked on the facebook map, I didn't get anything... I don't think it says 3rd and 3rd like this meetup page.

Is everyone required to wear a MN Atheists T-shirt? How 'bout a Mr. Paul Aints jersey or a Ms Paula Aints T-shirt?

    June 27, 2013

    • Eric

I think it would be fantastic if you wore a Mr. Paul Aints jersey or Ms. Paula Aints shirt :)

      June 29, 2013

    • Nancy

If I can find my "It's ok to be Takei" T-shirt, I'll probably wear that; otherwise one of the "Aints".

I'm sorry, but I haven't been feeling well since Thursday. I hoped I'd feel better today, but it's 7 am and I don't, so I've come undone as a volunteer this afternoon. I also unblocked tomorrow afternoon's slots as well, just in case.

    June 29, 2013

    • Heather H

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you get to feeling better! Thank you for updating the form. If you find you are able to join us tomorrow, feel free to even if you aren't on the form. The time we would need you most at the booth tomorrow would be from 10am-1pm (during the parade).

      June 29, 2013

  • Rachel

I'll only be able to attend the booth for tomorrow, due to other commitments I have Sunday afternoon/evening. Sorry!

    June 28, 2013

    • Steve P.

I see you are on up to the last shift. FYI, I
will be at the booth about 5:45 to help close the booth for the night. Thanks for helping staff the booth, it is well worth the expereince.

Does anyone have a wagon? I have a cooler. I don't feel like being sick from the heat again.

    June 27, 2013

    • Heather H

August said that he would bring a cooler of water bottles in ice. We can't have too much water tho if you still want to bring yours (or just bring for yourself if we run out).

So it turns out I can make it after all! I just have to be back by 2, so I might not be able to staff the both for very long.

Hi Al: This is the shift sign up link: http://www1.mysignup.... Just look for an open shift and enter your name fpr that time frame. The booth number is: P012 and is on the 15th street side of the park. Thanks Steve

      June 27, 2013

  • Steve P.

In past years I had done that, but I am not able to do the parade this year. It might be best to plan on bring a water bottle.

    June 26, 2013

  • Chris P.

Is someone going to bring a cooler of water?

    June 26, 2013

  • Steve P.

We are still looking for some help in the booth. The parade should be at the park about 2:00 so if one want to march and staff the booth any shift after 3:00 would be more that safe to staff. This is the link:

      Bummer. There's always next year!

      June 25, 2013

This is always so much fun, and this year should be simply wonderful. So looking forward to this event and to seeing everyone.

Also, my husband's band, Hounds of Finn, is playing on Sunday afternoon! Woo hoo!

    1 · June 21, 2013

I see the parade line up is already set. We are number 60, about in the middle of the pack. Also our booth number is Purple 012 (p012) This is in a simular locationas past years on the 15th Street side of the park. We still need a number of people for the Sunday shifts and a few for the Saturday shifts.

I would like to volunteer at the booth for a little while on Saturday and/or Sunday. I live very close to Loring Park so transportation is not an issue.

    May 13, 2013

    • Alex N.

I'm pretty flexible. I'd be happy to staff the booth at the time of the parade if you're having a harder time getting volunteers for that time slot. I could also probably do another couple of hours on both Saturday and Sunday if I can help.

      May 14, 2013

    • Heather H

Awesome! Thank you for your willingness! I will let you know if we are in need of you to help out for more hours. Hopefully people will discover the signup form and sign up.
