Volunteer with MN Atheists! - Food Packing at Emergency Food Network warehouse

Take the late afternoon off on Wednesday, October 2, and join your atheist friends at the Emergency Foodshelf Network (EFN) for a rewarding volunteer opportunity. We will begin sorting and packing food at 4:00pm at the EFN food bank warehouse. The food will then eventually be distributed to various food shelves throughout the Twin Cities.

EFN is a secular, NON-faith based non-profit organization whose mission is to to "serve the hunger needs of our changing communities".

Our shift begins at 4pm and lasts until 7pm. Please show up at the warehouse [masked]th Ave. North, New Hope, MN) a few minutes early and be sure to wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothing! I will email everyone who RSVPs "Yes" a waiver that will need to be signed. If you don't have the waiver when you arrive there will be some on hand at the warehouse that you can sign.

After our hard work is completed some of us might meet up at a nearby eatery for some food and drinks. That place is to be determined but one nearby restaurant is El Loro (99 Willow Bend, Crystal, MN) for some afternoon food and drinks.

The Minnesota Atheists is a partner organization of Volunteers Beyond Belief.

We packaged 290 bags (600 lbs.) of pinto beans for the EFN culturally specific food program and labeled/re-boxed 914 cans of corn. Good job everyone!

I had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new ones while helping the Emergency Food Network food bank package up food for their many food distribution programs.

I'm interested & could be available, but I have 2 questions: 1--does this project involve heavy lifting?
    2--is the packing site wheelchair-accessible?

Hi Mary! Thank you for your interest and questions. There is not heavy lifting required and I am pretty sure the site is wheelchair accessible but I will forward your question to the EFN volunteer coordinator to be sure. I'll let you know what she says.

The volunteer coordinator said that the warehouse is wheelchair accessible and you don't need to worry about heavy lifting.

Would anyone like to take the lead on another shift for the afternoon of 10/8 between 1pm and 4pm? EFN is asking if we are available but I wouldn't be able to attend.
