Freethought Film: The Nature of Existence at the Parkway, Oct. 2, Minneapolis

The film starts at 6:40 p.m., so please be in the lobby by 6:30.

We're taking filmmaker Roger Nygard up on his invitation to view his movie The Nature of Existence, and have chosen the October 2nd showing at the Parkway Theatre in Minneapolis, when Mr. Nygard will be offering a Q and A session afterwards. In his own words,

"The film explores existence and the various belief systems around the world, and features many Atheists & Freethinkers, such as: Richard Dawkins, Julia Sweeney, Ann Druyan, Leonard Susskind, etc.

"The movie has been receiving a tremendous amount of support from Atheist, Secular Humanist and Agnostic groups in LA, NY , and Portland. How about hanging out at a nearby pub or cafe after one of the Q & A sessions on 10/2 and making it a meetup event?"

In your RSVP, please let us know if you're interested in getting together after the show, and offer your suggestion for a suitable spot. If we get enough people and a good location, we'll update this Meetup with details.

For the film, we'll gather in the lobby and enter ten minutes before the show. Look for your host, who will be wearing his MNA t-shirt and/or holding a sign. Admission is $7.50.

I found the film and the question and answer period afterward very entertaining. The interviews were interesting and I learned some very interesting things. I also enjoyed the humorous things people said during their interviews. As the director told me afterward "They all disagree. Nobody has any answers. The scientists have the most evidence."

What a brilliant film. Great showing and excellent that Mr. Nygard was there. I was able to speak with another fellow MN Atheist Meet-Up member and a MN Humanist Meet-Up member as well. If it wasn't for this group, I wouldn't have even known about it! So glad I went.

It was very thought provoking. I think the 12 year old girl was really bright and perceptive. I may not know the reason for my existence, by I do know there is not a god.

It was a fantastic experience! I really appreciated the fact that Roger didn't take himself too seriously in this project! I definitely want to see more of the interviews he did! I think he said that his next project was going to be The Nature of Marriage. So I'm looking forward to that!

Great movie. Nice discussion in the theater. Somewhat chaotic getting together after the movie, as expected for a bunch of free thinkers.

The film was sprinkled with profound, unprofound, and sometimes humorous statements. But 170 interviews with little thread of continuity left my head spinning. His next project will be about MARRIAGE. I don't know if he'll be able to increase my confusion on that subject.
